Not NPG but Catskill wildflowers August 24, 2018

The too-hot days of August, too hot to go to the New York Botanical Garden and check on the Native Plant Garden. Not only that, but I had escaped to a cabin in the Catskills, my seventeenth year there.

No escape from identifying wildflowers, though.  This year, 2018, on the fairly new (as of 2013, same year as the "new" NPG) Windham Path in Windham, NY and on the Windham High Peaks trail, on Peck Road in Maplecrest, with Barbara or Robert or both, or my son Rich, finding all the "old friends" blooming.  I have kept lists of "Catskill Wildflowers" for years, and in a different way from the NPG where the Latin name and the "stories" hold sway.  I may have commented on the uses of particular plants, but the practical part of Bouncing Bet/Soapwort to clean your hands or Jewel Weed to prevent Poison Ivy from taking hold, which Rich asked about, I realized I didn't really know whether the flower or the juicy stem were the useful part.  However, I am going to list the blooming plants in the Catskills on the days I kept records, June, 2009 to the present summer.

Having worked on this for hours, first to try to alphabetize all the years' lists, hoping anyone would be interested  in the surprising variety, many alien, even some natives, I hope I will be forgiven for duplicates, and no patience to look up all the Latin names.  But I am available if any questions or clarifications come to mind.
